Use case
You are setting up a service and want to know what each field on the Pricing details step does. This article is the reference for every pricing option, for one-off and recurring services.
You reach Pricing details when you create or edit a service (Services > All services, then Create service or click a service). The fields you see depend on two choices: the service type (One-off or Recurring) and the pricing type.
The three pricing types
Standard: Set a price and receive requests from clients.
Time based: the price includes a set number of hours clients can spend on requests. See How to create time-based services.
Credit based: the price includes credits clients redeem for requests. See How to create credit-based services.
There is no hourly rate. A time based service is a price for a bundle of hours, for example 20 hours for $2,000.
One-off services
A one-off is charged once for a fixed scope of work. See How to create a one-off service for the full setup.
Standard
Price: what the client pays once.
Purchase limit: how many times one client organization can buy this service. Leave it empty for unlimited purchases.
Allowed requests: how many requests a client can submit after buying it once.
Time based
Price and Hours: the price and the hours included with this service.
Purchase limit: as above.
Requests allocation: how the client's requests are counted. Fixed amount uses Allowed requests. Requests based on total hours lets the client keep sending requests while they have hours left.
Max concurrent requests (only with requests based on total hours): how many requests the client can have open at the same time. Leave it empty for no limit.
Credit based
Price and Credits: the price and the credits included with this service.
Requests allocation: Fixed amount, or Requests based on total credits. With the second option you can set Max concurrent requests.
Options for every one-off
Require request submission at checkout: when on, clients fill in the request form as part of checkout. When off, the one-off is added to the client's stock so they can submit requests later.
Allow quantity selection: when on, clients choose how many units to buy at checkout. When off, they buy one at a time.
Make this the default service: see Default service below.
Recurring services
A recurring service is billed every period as a subscription. See How to create a recurring service for the full setup.
Price and recurring period
Price and Recurring period: how much the client pays and how often. The periods are Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Biannually and Annually.
Add recurring period: offer the same service with more than one billing period, each with its own price (for example monthly and annually). Clients pick one at checkout.
Hours or Credits (time based and credit based): the hours or credits included in each billing period. You set them per period.
Rollover (time based and credit based)
Turn on Allow unused hours to roll over (or Allow unused credits to roll over) to carry what's left over into the next billing period. Under Rollover settings, choose whether the balance rolls over indefinitely or for a limited number of months, and set the Number of months.
Trial
Turn on Enable trial period and set the Trial amount and Trial period (days, weeks or months). Use zero for a free trial. See How to create free or paid trials.
More details
Max concurrent requests: how many requests a client can have open at the same time. Leave it empty for no limit. See How to manage the max number of active requests.
Max number of requests per month: how many requests a client organization can create on this service in a calendar month. Leave it empty for no limit.
Charge a setup fee: adds a one-time Setup fee amount to the first payment. See How to create setup fees.
Make this the default service: see below.
Upgrade & downgrade paths: under Available services, pick the services clients can switch to from this one. Turn on Allow billing period changes to let them switch billing periods too (for example monthly to yearly). The list then becomes Available service variations, and you pick each service and billing period clients can move to. See How to upgrade or downgrade subscriptions.
Default service
Make this the default service is on every service. A default service is available to every client when they create a request, whether or not they have bought anything. Only one service can be the default. See How to offer services for free.
