Use case
You want every client, paying or not, to be able to send a general request. Or you want to give one client a service at no cost, or do a single request for free as a goodwill gesture. ManyRequests has a way to do each of these without a checkout.
There are three ways to offer a service for free:
Default service: one service that every client can use to create requests.
Free service for one organization: you add a service or subscription to a client's organization yourself, at no charge.
Free request: you create a single request for a client without charging for it.
Make a default service
A default service is available to every client when they create a request, whether or not they have bought anything. It never runs out and stays available until you turn it off.
In the sidebar, open Services and click All services. Click Create service, or click the name of an existing service to edit it.
On the Pricing details step, turn on Make this the default service.
Go through the remaining steps and click Save.
When clients create a request, the service shows a Default service badge. You see the same badge on the service card in each organization's Services and subscriptions tab.
Good to know:
Only one service can be the default. If you turn the switch on for another service, that service becomes the default instead. Turning the switch off, or deleting the service, leaves you with no default service.
Requests on the default service don't use up anything the client bought.
The service's Max concurrent requests limit still applies. Leave it empty if clients can have any number of open requests on it. See How to manage the max number of active requests.
The default service also appears in your catalog unless you hide it. To keep it out of the catalog, turn off Show in catalog (see How to manage your service catalog).
Give an organization a service for free
In the sidebar, open Users and click Clients. Open the Organizations tab and click the client's organization.
On the Services and subscriptions tab, click New service or subscription.
In the Add new service or subscription window, pick the service under Service. More options appear depending on the service:
Quantity for one-off services: how many requests the client can create with it.
Custom dates for subscriptions: set your own start and end dates.
Custom remaining hours for time-based subscriptions: set the hours the client starts with.
Click Confirm.
Services added this way are free for the client and you can cancel a free subscription at any time. If you want the client to go through checkout and pay, send them an invoice instead.
Create a single request for free
On the Requests page, click Create Request.
Pick the Client.
Under How do you want this service to be billed?, choose Create a Request free-of-charge.
Pick the Service, click Next, fill in the form and click Create Request.
The other options in that list are Deduct this Request from the services previously purchased by the client, and, for admins when invoices are turned on, Send the client an invoice for this service.
