Use case: you want to hear about new requests, client comments and payment issues right away, without being flooded by updates you don't need. ManyRequests lets each person choose which notifications they get by email and in the app, and lets you decide who follows each client's requests.
How notifications work
A notification is sent when something happens on a request: a new request is submitted, a comment is added, a status changes or a file gets feedback. It goes to:
The client who owns the request.
The team members assigned to it.
Anyone following the request.
You never get a notification for your own action. Internal comments are never sent to clients.
Each notification can reach you in two ways: Email and In app (the bell at the top right of your portal). Billing events, chat messages and time approvals send notifications too.
How to see your notifications in the app
Click the bell icon at the top right. A red dot means you have unread notifications.
The menu shows your latest unread notifications. Click one to open it, or click All notifications to see the full list.
On the Notifications page, admins and team members can filter by All, From team and From clients. Unread notifications are highlighted. Click Mark all as read to clear them.
Clients see the same bell and Notifications page, with all their notifications in one list. In your requests list, a red dot next to a request means it has activity you haven't seen yet. It disappears once you open the request.
How to edit your notification preferences
Click the three dots next to your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then click Your profile.
Open the Notification preferences tab. You can also go to Settings > Profile and account, or click Manage notification preferences at the bottom of any notification email.
For each notification, turn Email and In app on or off.
Click Save changes. Your changes aren't saved until you do.
Preferences are personal: each admin, team member and client sets their own. You only see the notifications that apply to your role.
Which notifications you can turn off
Notifications are grouped into Requests notifications and Billing notifications. Billing notifications only show when the Billing module is on (Settings > Modules and extensions).

Emails that are always sent
Some emails can't be turned off, because people need them to use or protect their account:
Invitations to join your portal.
Mentions: when someone tags you in a comment.
Security alerts: a login from a new IP address, a password change, an email address change, two-factor authentication turned off, or new recovery codes.
Password reset emails.
How to choose who is notified about a client's requests
Add followers to one request
Followers get the same notifications as the client who owns the request. You can add other members of the client's organization.
Open the request and go to the Details tab.
Under Following, click the avatars, select the people to add and click Update.
Add followers to every new request
On an organization's page, add people under Default followers (on smaller screens, open More details first). They are added as followers to every new request in that organization. Read more in How to add organization followers.
Assign your team automatically
The organization's Account manager is assigned to every new request from that client, so they get its notifications from the start. Read more in How to auto-assign team members to client requests.
Tips
Want your notification emails to come from your own address or carry your brand? See How to set up a custom email domain and How to edit email templates (both need a Pro plan).
You can also get request updates in Slack: see How to set up Slack integration.
