Use case: You run a small creative agency and invite two more designers to your portal. Your plan already includes some seats, so you only pay for the extra seats you use, and your bill updates automatically.
On a seat-based ManyRequests plan, you pay a base price that includes a number of seats, plus a price for each extra seat. For current prices, see our pricing page.
Who uses a seat
Every Portal Admin, Admin and Team member in your portal uses one seat, including you. Clients never use a seat, so you can invite as many clients as you need. Deleted team members don't count.
You see everyone who uses a seat on Users > Team.
How seat billing works
Seats included in your plan. Your base plan includes a set number of seats. Team members beyond that are billed as extra seats.
Adding a team member. When you go over your included seats, ManyRequests adds an extra seat to your subscription and charges a prorated amount for the rest of the current billing period. From your next renewal, the full seat price is included in your bill. The update reaches your billing within about 30 minutes.
Removing a team member. Deleting a team member frees their seat and lowers your seat count. There is no refund or credit for the rest of the current period; the lower count applies from your next bill.
Restoring a team member. A restored team member uses a seat again and is billed like a new one.
Annual plans. On a yearly plan, extra seats are billed yearly too, and they renew on the same date as your plan.
Example: how a prorated seat is charged
The prices below are made up to keep the maths simple. Your real prices are on your plan and the pricing page.
Say your monthly plan includes 3 seats, an extra seat costs $20 per month, and your billing period runs from the 1st to the 30th.
You add a 4th team member on the 16th. That person uses an extra seat. About 30 minutes later, the seat is added to your subscription and you get a separate invoice for the part of the month that is left: 15 of 30 days, so about $20 x 15/30 = $10. It is charged to your default card straight away, not added to your next bill.
On the 1st (your renewal), your bill is your base plan plus the full $20 for the extra seat.
You remove that team member on the 10th of the next month. You don't get a refund or credit for the remaining days. The seat is no longer billed from the following renewal.
You add someone again later in the same month. You are charged a new prorated amount for the days left, even if you removed someone earlier that month.
This is why a seat charge is often lower than the full seat price: it covers only the days left in your current billing period. Stripe calculates the exact amount down to the time the seat was added, so it can differ by a few cents from a calculation by whole days. On a yearly plan it works the same way: adding a $200-per-year seat with 3 months left costs about $50 now, then the full $200 at renewal.
If you add several team members within a few minutes of each other, they are usually charged together on one invoice.
Seat limit
Each plan also has a maximum number of seats. When every seat is used, creating a new team member shows: You have reached the maximum number of seats for your subscription. To add more people, upgrade your plan. See How to manage your ManyRequests subscription.
See your plan and seats
Go to Settings > Profile and account and open the Subscription tab. On your team, only the portal owner (the Portal Admin) sees this tab.
Under Manage subscription you see your plan and your next bill. When you use extra seats, a Breakdown line shows the base plan price and how many extra seats you pay for, at what price each.

What happens if my card fails when I add a seat?
The team member is still added. The seat charge is retried like any other payment on your subscription. To change your card, see How to change your payment method.
Do clients or organization members use seats?
