Use case
One service covers several kinds of work, and each needs different details. With conditions, the request form only shows the questions that matter for the client's answers. For example, if the client picks Banner, they're asked for banner sizes; if they pick Social post, they're asked which channels.
Before you start
Add every field you need to the form first, including the ones that should only appear in some cases. Conditions then decide when those fields show or hide. See How to customize service request forms for building the form.
How to add a condition
Go to Services > All services and click the service you want to edit.
Click Next until you reach the Request form step.
Click the Conditions tab, next to Form body.
Click Add condition. Existing rules are listed under All conditions.
Under If, choose the field the client answers.
Under State, choose how the answer is compared (see the table below), then set the Value. For single selection, multiple selection and dropdown fields you pick one of the field's options; for other fields you type the value.
Under Do, choose Show or Hide, then pick one or more Fields it applies to.
Click Add condition.
Good to know: a condition is saved as soon as you click Add condition. You don't need to click Save on the service for it to apply.
The rule above reads: if Deliverable type is Social post, show Channels.
Which fields and states you can use
Field type (If) | State |
Short answer, Paragraph | Is, Is not, Contains, Does not contain |
Single selection, Dropdown | Is, Is not |
Multiple selection | Contains, Does not contain |
Date | Is, Is not |
Content blocks (rich text, testimonials, FAQ), file uploads, repeatable fields and internal fields can't be used under If. Internal fields can't be shown or hidden by a condition either.
How conditions behave for clients
A field with a Show rule stays hidden until the condition is met. If several Show rules point to the same field, any one of them shows it.
A field with a Hide rule is visible until the condition is met.
When a field gets hidden, anything the client already entered in it is cleared.
Test your form
Click Preview at the top of the Request form step to open the form in a new tab, then try the answers. The preview reloads when you add or change a condition.
Edit or delete a condition
On the Conditions tab, use the pencil icon next to a rule to change it (then click Save), or the trash icon to delete it and confirm.
