How to Create an External Link (Extension)

Written by Regine Garcia

External links in ManyRequests allow you to add custom links to the sidebar of your client portal under the “Extensions” section. This feature helps you and your clients quickly access important resources, tools, or documents without leaving the portal. Whether it’s a shared folder, knowledge base, or a payment page, adding external links keeps everything just one click away.

📌 Use Case:

Imagine you manage a creative agency and want your clients to access important resources, like a knowledge base, a WhatsApp link, or third-party tools, right from your ManyRequests client portal.

With the External Link extension, you can place custom links in the sidebar, making them easily accessible for you and your clients.

This is especially useful if:

  • You want clients to quickly access assets hosted elsewhere (Google Drive, Dropbox, Notion, Figma, etc.).

  • You have important documentation or tools your team uses daily.

  • You want to add quick links to resources like calendars or one-click call links.

How to Create an External Link

  1. On your Dashboard, click on Settings

  2. Find and click Modules and Extensions

  3. At the top of this page, click the Extensions tab. This shows all extensions currently added to your portal.

  4. Click the Add Extension button (top right corner)

  5. Select External Link

  6. Click Next to continue

  7. Choose whether the extension will be:

    • Global: Visible to all clients and accounts.

    • Local: Visible only to select client accounts (great if only some clients need the link).

  8. Make your selection and click Next

  9. Upload an icon, add a label, and input the desired external link

  10. Click on the Create Extension button to proceed

  11. That's it! The external link now appears under the Extensions section on your sidebar! 🎉

Managing Your Extension

After creation, you can always

  • Preview what the link looks like for clients

  • Edit the link, icon, or label if you need to update anything

  • Disable the extension if you want to hide it temporarily (without deleting)

  • Delete the extension if it’s no longer needed

Simply go back to Settings > Modules and Extensions > Extensions, find your external link, and use the available options.
