The request custom dropdown adds one extra field to every request, with options and colors you define. Use it for whatever your team tracks beyond status and priority: urgency, project type, platform, department or an internal stage.
Use case: a design agency adds an Urgency dropdown with Low, Medium and High. The team sets it on each request and shows it as a column in the request list, so the most urgent work stands out at a glance.
Other examples:
A design subscription labels requests as "Branding", "Social media" or "Web UI".
A development agency tracks the platform: "Shopify", "WordPress" or "Custom code".
A content team classifies requests as "How-to", "Opinion" or "SEO pillar".
How to turn on the custom dropdown
Go to Settings > Modules and extensions and open Requests.
Scroll to Request custom dropdown and turn it on.
Enter a Dropdown label. This is the name of the field and of its column, for example "Urgency".
Click Save changes.
How to add and edit options
You manage the options from any request. Only portal admins and admins can create, edit, reorder or delete options.
Open a request and find the dropdown under its label, on the Details tab or in the Summary panel. Click it to see the options.
To add an option, type its name in Search or create an option and click Create. The new option is created in blue and selected on that request.
To rename an option or change its color, hover over it and click the pencil icon. Change the name, pick a color under Choose a color, then click Save changes.
To reorder options, drag them by the handle on the right. To delete one, click the trash icon.
How to show the dropdown as a column
The column is hidden in the request list until you add it.
On the Requests page, click the options button (the sliders icon next to Filters) and select Show/Hide columns.
Tick your dropdown, for example Urgency. Drag it up or down to change its position.
Click Save changes. You can now change the value straight from the list.
Good to know
Who sees it: your team sees and sets the dropdown. Team members can pick an option on the requests they work on (in the request list, only if they can change request statuses), but can't create or edit options. Clients don't see the dropdown on the request page. If you turn on Client custom columns and add the dropdown under Configure client columns, clients see it as a column in their request list.
Deleting is immediate: there is no confirmation when you click the trash icon.
Exports and integrations: the dropdown is a column in the request export (named after your label), and its label, value and color are included in the API, in the Zapier request triggers and in the request created and request updated webhooks.
