How to Avoid Duplicate Email Issues When Managing Multiple Organizations

Learn how to avoid duplicate email issues by using the +email trick to join multiple organizations with one inbox.

📌 Use Case:

You're working with several creative businesses, each using ManyRequests for their client portal. You need access to multiple accounts but hit a wall, your email can’t be reused across organizations. It’s frustrating, especially when you’re a client or contractor who needs to pop in and out of different portals seamlessly.

The Problem

ManyRequests doesn’t allow the same email address to be used across multiple organizations. So if you've previously signed up with your main work email (e.g., [email protected]) for one organization, you won’t be able to reuse that exact address to join another. That means clients or team members working across agencies get stuck or have to resort to using multiple inboxes, which can be a mess.

The Workaround

Use “plus addressing,” a little-known trick that works with most email services (like Gmail, Outlook, and Google Workspace).

Here’s how:

Let’s say your email is [email protected].

Instead of creating an entirely new email account, you can modify your email using a “+” tag like so:

Why this works:

  1. Each version is technically a unique email to the ManyRequests platform, so you can use it to register multiple accounts.

  2. They all go to the same inbox. Your actual email provider will ignore anything after the +, so all messages still land in [email protected].

đŸ”„ Pro Tip

You can even set up inbox filters or labels so each brand’s emails are automatically organized. For example, label everything sent to [email protected] under “Brand A.”

In Summary

To avoid duplicate email issues:

  • Use the + trick to create email variations.

  • Register each variation with a different ManyRequests organization.

  • Enjoy all communications in one inbox without clutter or conflict.
