How to clone (duplicate) a request

Clone (duplicate) an existing request into a new draft with the same client, service and brief, then edit it and submit.

Written by Gabriel Lecointere

Cloning (also called duplicating) copies an existing request into a new one, so you don't have to fill in the same brief again. You review the copy, change what you need and submit it.

Use case: a client orders new blog graphics every week with almost the same instructions. Instead of rewriting the brief and picking the service again, they clone last week's request, change the topic, add new images and submit. Your team can do the same when a client sends a brief by email or Slack and you create the request for them.

What gets copied

The copy gets the original title with " - copy" at the end, the same client, service and brand, and the answers to the intake form. Comments, activity, assignees, status, tags, checklists and time entries are not copied. The original request is not changed.

How to clone a request (admins and team members)

  1. Open the request you want to copy.

  2. Click the three dots next to the request title, then click Clone.

Request options menu with Clone highlighted
  3. In the Clone Request window, click Confirm.

Clone Request confirmation with the Confirm button highlighted
  4. The Create Request page opens on the Fill intake form step, with the client and service already set. Change the title, brief and files as you need. The client and service can't be changed on this page.

  5. Click Create Request.

Good to know: a request you clone for a client is created free of charge. It is not deducted from the services the client bought and no invoice is sent.

Good to know: team members only see Clone when they are allowed to create requests. You can turn this on in Settings > Modules and extensions > Users, under Create requests for team members.

How clients clone a request

Clients can only clone requests if you allow it. To turn it on:

  1. Go to Settings > Modules and extensions > Users.

  2. Under Clients > Requests, turn on Clone requests and click Save changes.

Client permissions with the Clone requests switch highlighted

Your clients can then clone a request:

  1. Open the request and click the three dots in the top right corner.

  2. Click Clone, then Confirm.

  3. Review the copy, make your changes and click Create Request.

If a client leaves before submitting, the copy is kept as a draft. They can find it on the Requests page under the Drafts tab.
